Sunny is pursuing her doctorate in education-exceptionalities from the University of Hawai‘i Mānoa. As a doctoral student, Sunny’s research interests focus on diversity and identity, brain and learning sciences, educational policy, social emotional learning, and parent and family issues. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on early childhood education, and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in curriculum and instruction with a focus in special education.
Sunny has worked with children across all ages; some of her previous roles have included staff development supervisor, elementary school principal, special education teacher, and ESL teacher in Abu Dhabi. Her first children’s book, Jump the Moon, will be published later this year.
